Paint protection films for motorcycles - stone chip films in various forms

You love your bike and you want it to look as beautiful as on the first day, even after many rides? Then scratches and stone chips are annoying. They not only damage the look of your bike, they also reduce its value. However, the problem can be solved quite easily without significantly changing the appearance of the bike or incurring high costs. In the TecBike Shop you will find a wide range of paint protection films in various designs and bumperstuds

A question of taste - coloured or transparent paint protection films

If a vehicle is parked exclusively outside, the paint is attacked over time by the UV radiation of the sunlight. In the worst case, it even begins to fade. This aging process also has a negative effect on the value of the vehicle and the appearance also suffers. You can counteract damage, stone chipping or the ageing of the paintwork with a transparent paint protection film. This procedure is significantly cheaper than having the motorcycle parts completely repainted.

In our shop you can get the films in various colours and patterns. Versions in carbonopticsare at the top of the popularity scale. If you want to keep the original colour of your machine unchanged, a transparentfilm is the optimal choice.

How do you apply stone chip films?

If you want toapply a protective film to your motorcycle, the right preparation is essential for an optimal result. Basically, a distinction is made between wet and dry adhesive films for paint protection and stone chip films.
Pay attention to the climatic conditions

If possible, you should apply the film to your motorcycle in a closed room. The ideal temperature for this is between 15° and 30 °C. If the installation has to take place outdoors, please note the following

  • not in damp weather
  • not in windy weather
  • not in the blazing sun

Important: The use of the instructions/assembly tips is expressly at your own risk. No liability can be accepted for any damage.

Step 1
Before you can start with the actual bonding work, the vehicle or at least the affected area must be thoroughly cleaned. It is important to carefully remove any dirt, dust or other things from the paintwork. Depending on the condition of the paintwork, it may be necessary to treat the paintwork, for example with a paint polish.

Step 2
For the next step, it is important to clean your hands thoroughly. Even the smallest impurities under the film can lead to unsightly spots.
If you are working with rolls, it is important to roughly pre-cut the stone chip film in advance. To do this, lay the film on the later gluing point and cut it generously.

Wet adhesive films - Step 3
To apply wet adhesive films correctly, you need a spray bottle with water and a few drops of washing-up liquid. Spray the adhesive area with this. This gives you the opportunity to make small directional corrections afterwards.

Please note: Your hands must always be kept moist during wet application. This prevents the paint protection film from sticking to your fingers and there is no risk of fingerprints or traces of them remaining on the adhesive side of the film. As a general rule, touch the adhesive side as little as possible.

Step 4
For the next step, remove the paint protection film from the backing film. Dampen it generously with water on the adhesive side. Starting in the middle, place the film on the desired area of the motorcycle. It is not yet properly in place? The liquid forms a film and allows the film to be positioned precisely.

Step 5
If the adhesive protection against stone chipping fits correctly, it still has to be fixed accordingly. This is best done with a squeegee or the rubber side of your ice scraper. You carefully spread (squeegee) out the liquid and any air bubbles. We recommend that you also moisten the surface of the film. This will prevent scratches on it.

If there are stubborn or larger bubbles, simply pierce them carefully with a fine needle. Use a hairdryer or heat gun to slightly warm the film at corners and edges. This will make it more flexible and softer and it will fit perfectly around these difficult areas.

Step 6
The last step is only necessary for gluing jobs that do not have precision-fit cuts. Finally, remove excess foil with a carpet knife or scalpel. Great care is required here so as not to damage the paintwork underneath.

Dry adhesive film

So-called dry adhesive foils are self-adhesive products. They can be stuck onto the paintwork like a sticker. To do this, peel off the backing film at one end and position the film at the intended location. Use a squeegee to work on the film and remove the backing film piece by piece.
