Digital gear indicator with shift light - For even more riding fun

The motorcycle is the epitome of freedom and sportiness. Nevertheless, safety must not be neglected on the road or on the race track. Therefore it is essential to have full control over your bike at all times. This also includes knowing which gear you are in. Basically, the gears of a bike are much more sensitive than those of a car. It is not always possible to tell from the number of revolutions per minute in which gear you are currently driving. In our online shop at TECbike you can get the digital gear indicator. Not only does it show you at a glance which gear is currently selected, it also helps you, for example, when cornering safely. With just one glance you can see how many gears you have to shift down.

Gear count goodbye - digital gear shift indicator from Healtech

What aisle am I in anyway? Which biker has not asked himself this question at least once in the course of time? It doesn't matter whether you are looking for the "7th gear" when shifting up or wondering about a lower delay when shifting down, because you are still in the 3rd gear instead of the imaginary 2nd gear. Or imagine you are on a demanding and winding track or even on the race track, your full attention must be on the asphalt in front of you and not on the question which gear is really engaged.

If you ride a motorcycle that doesn't yet have such a display in the dashboard, you can use a shift or gear indicator from our shop. Retrofitting is also possible for the layman with a little technical understanding. Usually the connections are made directly at the speedometer. In our shop you will find a large selection of these products from Healtech for many motorcycle brands.

The gear indicator - how does it work?

The signals for speed and rpm arrive at the speedometer. The module uses them and calculates the respective gear. In each gear the ratio of the two signals is unique. This means that a one-time training is sufficient. After that, the module knows the individual transmission ratios of each gear. They are then only compared with each other in real time. Without delay, the device shows the engaged gear on the easily readable display.

The shift lightning - gear change at the optimal time

Especially in motor sports the so-called shift lightning is widely used. This applies to two-wheeled vehicles as well as to cars. When the optimal time for a gear change has come, bright and often coloured LEDs (light emitting diodes) indicate this to the driver with a short flash. This is also where the name of the device comes from. It is connected to the tachometer of the vehicle via a cable and can be freely programmed depending on the model. Depending on the selected setting, the LEDs flash, a predefined engine speed is reached. The constant glance at the tachometer is therefore no longer necessary. As a driver, you can concentrate on your ride without distraction and still effortlessly find the ideal time to accelerate and change gears.

Retrofitting a gear shift indicator made easy

Counting the gears on the track is especially tedious and can cost valuable time. It is not difficult to retrofit a universal gear indicator.

Before the actual work can begin, proper preparation is essential. You will create the necessary space for the new cables. Furthermore you need access to the already existing cables and connectors on the wiring harness. Usually you remove the tank and the rear cover of the machine. As an alternative to removing the tank completely, it is possible to fold it up and support it towards the front. Depending on the make of machine, further disassembly of components may be necessary. The ratchet, a set of allen keys, side cutters and crimping pliers should be within easy reach. The installation is easier with a mounting jack from our shop. If you are not confident to do the conversion on your own, we recommend to get professional help from a specialist.

The connection of the modules of the Austrian manufacturer Healtech is very easy. Per PLUG & PLAY the connection is made via diagnostic plugs. All necessary cabling, connections and a detailed installation and operating manual are part of the scope of delivery. After installation you will also benefit from a simple set-up.

Now let our gear indicators support you on straight or winding roads and drive the gears to full capacity. In the TECbike Online Shop you will find a selection of suitable modules. Retrofit now simply and easily.
