TÜV and ABE - yes or no?

If your motorcycle had a full fairing before the conversion and you have removed it, a visit to the TÜV is due in any case. The motorcycle fairing must be removed from the papers. Removing the fairing parts and fitting a minimal fairing, for example in the form of lamp masks or a motorcycle front mask, can have a considerable negative effect on the handling characteristics of the two-wheeler. The test is associated with corresponding costs. If an ABE or a TÜV part certificate is available, the registration usually takes place without problems. At least you need a material appraisal.

The pillion cover - new look and motorcycle tuning without passenger

No matter if spouse or single, many bikers prefer to ride their motorcycles alone. It is no wonder that especially with the Superbike, the seat for the pillion rider has to make way for an aesthetic and smooth cover. Our manufacturers of high-quality racing accessories have also recognized this and have adapted to it.

In most cases a pillion cover, which is only pushed over the rear part of single-seater and standard upholstery, is the simplest and at the same time the cheapest option. However, due to the design, this can also result in the cover extending beyond the actual rear trim. To avoid this, it is worthwhile investing in a solo hump. The original seat is completely replaced and usually fits harmoniously into the serial design of the motorcycle. Storage space is usually in short supply on a motorcycle. The conversion, which is subject to registration, can lead to an increase in space due to the volume of the hump.

With a two-part seat bench for driver and passenger, only the rear cushion needs to be replaced with a seat wedge. Although there is no regulation that makes the registration of these fairing parts mandatory, you are on the safe side with a parts certificate from the TÜV.

Protection against dirt and wetness - the rear wheel cover

The wheel cover, also known as a fender or simply as a mudguard, does not only fulfil design tasks. The front and rear wheel cover prevents excessive swirling of dirt and water. It protects you and your machine as well as following traffic. Paragraphs 30 and 36a of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) contain a national regulation on wheel covers. It may end a maximum of 150 mm above the horizontal of the axle when unloaded. Furthermore, a reflex reflector must always be provided. Whether this is round or square is of secondary importance. Important: It must have a test mark. For motorcycles registered before 01.01.1987 the lower edge counts, after that the upper edge is used as a measure, because it must not be higher than 900 mm above the ground.

Design elements and protection at the same time - the motorcycle chain guard and the front spoiler

The Superbike, but also many other motorcycle types use a chain for the drive. It requires appropriate care and should be lubricated regularly. During the ride, excess lubricants are thrown off the chain and land on your bike. The chain is a component that also has a corresponding potential for injury. In order to protect yourself from being touched and injured by the chain, the custom bike and series machines require a suitable chain guard.
