Motorcycle care - cleaning / lubricating / polishing

Taking care of your motorcycle is not just about keeping it looking good. As an experienced biker, you take the opportunity to make sure that your bike is also technically perfect. Everything you need for thorough and proper motorcycle care is available in the TecBike range:

  • Products and accessories for cleaning
  • Chain spray
  • Brake cleaner
  • Washing cloths
  • Work gloves

Always in top shape and well maintained with TecBike

When cleaning, these things immediately catch your eye:

  • chafed cables
  • Leaks on the engine
  • Rust on chrome parts
  • loose screws etc.

For a thorough wet wash, please visit a suitable washing area. As a rule, washing the vehicle on the street or driveway is prohibited. If you use a high-pressure cleaner to get to grips with the dirt, make sure there is sufficient distance from sensitive parts. These include the chain, wheel bearings and swingarm bearings. There is a risk of the grease filling being washed out of these parts. In addition, plug-in connections of the on-board electrics react with little pleasure with contact difficulties or creeping currents.

When the machine is flashing and blinking again, a subsequent vehicle check rounds off the feel-good program. Are the oil, brake and cooling fluid levels correct? What about the pressure and tread depth of the tires? Are the brake pads still in good shape and does the drive chain have the right tension?

Proper cleaning and chain care

With every ride, the drive chain of your beloved bike is subjected to a lot of stress. For maximum service life, you should therefore pay a lot of attention to the maintenance and care of this important component. Otherwise, the chain will wear out much faster and you will need expensive replacements. In addition, there is a possible loss of performance and stronger reactions when changing loads. If the chain is incorrectly tensioned or worn, it also poses a safety risk: It can jump off/over or even break in the worst case.

How is a motorcycle chain constructed?

Drive chains are precision products and they are made from the best materials. O-ring chains have been around since the mid-1970s and are now one of the most widely used types of chain. Inside the chain, sealing rings behind the chain link plate provide lifetime lubrication for the chain pin and sleeve. Rollers, sprockets and the chain wheel are your responsibility. They also need to be lubricated regularly.

Proper lubrication is not difficult

Centrifugal force, rain and road dirt ensure that the lubrication is literally sanded off over time. The chain wears out. If well cared for, the drive chain can last up to 40,000 km. If it is not well cared for, it can wear out after just 10,000 km.

Regular checks are therefore essential. If there are signs of rust or if the chain is bare, use chain spray. It not only protects against corrosion, but also significantly reduces friction. The chain spray contains a volatile propellant so that it spreads better. Experienced touring riders lubricate the still warm chain at the end of a ride. This keeps the lubricant where it belongs: on the drive chain and not on the rim, tires or brake disc.

For a powerful bite on the brakes

Brakes are vital components on any vehicle. They, too, must therefore always be kept in top condition and equipped with sufficient linings. Dirt, rust or the like can impair their performance. A brake cleaner should therefore be among your utensils for cleaning and maintenance. The brake cleaner is highly volatile. It easily dissolves grease and works completely residue-free. When cleaning the brakes, you should always wear protective gloves, as the aggressive liquid attacks the skin.

Silicone sprays are better suited for cleaning the inside of the brake caliper. The rubber of the piston sealing rings is extremely sensitive to conventional brake cleaner.

Everything for thorough cleaning and care

Whether it's practical wash cloths, chain sprays or accessories for the next wellness treatment of your machine, the TecBike range offers you everything you need for motorcycle care. Do you have any questions about our products? We will be happy to advise you!
