Le signal d'arrêt d'urgence (ESS) est une fonction qui avertit le véhicule qui suit du danger en faisant clignoter rapidement le feu de détresse lorsque le conducteur freine brusquement en roulant à grande vitesse (50 km/h ou plus).
Le feu de détresse clignote environ 85 fois par minute, tandis que l'ESS clignote environ 220 fois par minute.
